Breaking news about Axworthy

News has hit the web that someone from Chris’s campaign office called in to a cable show and accused Vellacott of sexually assaulting a church secretary. My guess is that it was an over zealous volunteer. From my interactions with Chris I highly doubt he would sanction something like this. Why would anyone attempt such a thing from their own campaign office?

I hope that the video and audio of the tape is released and the person responsible be held accountable.

Officially Screwed has the name of the guy and that he was a campaign worker.

    What is North Park Church?

    Bene:

The source for that name is the Maurice Vellacott campaign. They have no real evidence that this guy did it. I’m not familiar with a North Park church.

Honestly I find it hard to believe that a lawyer and a former justice minister would slander someone in a public forum from his own campaign office.

I wasn’t making an accusation LT, I was asking.

I am aware of the source, and linked it as source.

Are you able to get me a copy of Axworthy’s PR?

I don’t have access to the wire.

    Bene:

I didnt’ mean to come across harsh. Sorry if I did. I did intend to speak in a more matter of fact tone.

    Is PR a Press Release?

As far as I am able to tell the PR (press release) went to CP. I don’t have access to that.

I haven’t found it on his personal site or the liberal site.

I’ve checked other CDN wire sources and was unable to find it.

I also checked most CDN news sites and PR wires.

At any rate, if a guy can’t control is own office phone, how is he going to handle running our government?

    Gil:

Seeing as how Mr. Axworthy has already been in government, and served as a cabinet minister in a provincial government I think he can handle the job.

In local campaigns it is the campaign manager that handles the volunteers. The candidate is usually too busy door knocking, calling or at events.

it just sounds to me like the usual liberal response to any scandal; “I don’t know, I’m not responsible”

    Gil:

I was responding to your point about Mr. Axworthy’s ability to function in government. I wasn’t making any excuses for the phone call.

Saying “it seems to me this is just usual liberal response” doesn’t actually address my point.
