Mean Girls is a great movie

Scott and I were wondering what to do last night so we picked up Mean Girls to entertain ourselves.  I was pleasantly surprised at this non-formulaic, well written movie with depth.  It is an almost frightening glimpse in to “girlworld”.  The movie was inspired by the book Queen Bees and Wannabes which is more of guide for parents on how to help their daughter through adolescence.

    I’ll get it.

I think I want to see it.

I’ve been waiting for months to see it. I picked it up tonight. People always look at me with puzzlement when I mention wanting to see it, but I like Tina Fey. Glad it’s going to be a good one.

While a bit over the top, the movie has serious threads of accuracy that I saw time and again in the lives of my sisters. And then when i was youth pastoring, I was amazed at how mean girls could be to each other, especially to those that were apparently friends. I couldn’t keep track of who was friends with who on any given day.

That being said, it doesn’t have to be that way, as the movie shows.

Plus they do calculus in the movie! Cool.

Cool – filmed in Toronto. I recognized quite a few of the locations.
