I hate dental hygienists

It is bad enough when you know you must endure really uncomfortable and even painful procedures because of your stupidity.  It is so much worse when someone talks to you like you are 8 years old.

If I ever talked to my clients the way I’ve been talked to I wouldn’t have work.  Sometimes I do have to clean up self-inflicted mistakes on computers.  I never ever treat someone unprofessionally.  I don’t tell anyone 18 times how important it is to do one thing or another.

I’m sorry to hear that. I had a similar experience several years ago. The hygienist practically lost it on me for not cleaning the back of my last molars with my toothbrush. I felt like an idiot. Though I never forgot her point and now clean accordingly.

Our current hygienist is fantastic. We truly enjoy going to her. I remember the last time I went. I was apologizing for my lack of flossing. “Well,” she kindly answered, “You do what you can, right?” Yet, she motivates me to take care of my teeth with her gracious attitude.

I am still in tears after enduring a new hygienist’s lecturing today. I have extreme dental phobia/anxiety and I asked her to stop lecturing me, and that I really could not handle it. She got all indignant and left to get the dentist. It was at that point I totally lost it and left in tears. That was four hours ago and I am still shaking like a leaf.

A word to hygienists…if the patient is telling you to stop then STOP. You have done your part, and you may not always know the reason they can’t deal with your lecture.
