Great Canadian 80’s Rock

Harlequin! Formed in Winnipeg, so cold and windy even we in Saskatoon pity the poor fools that live there.  (Their football team stinks too)

Streetheart. Easily my favourite band formed in Saskatchewan!

April Wine. These rockers started out near Halifax and had a long list of hits in Canada.

Loverboy. Loving every single minute of it! Why not? They launched from the home of Canada’s finest hockey team: the Calgary Flames.

Honeymoon Suite. A great band from Niagra Falls!

Chilliwack. Oddly enough, they started out in Vancouver!

Toronto. Unlike Chilliwack, they actually come from the town they are named after.

Headpins. An side project for some of the members of Chilliwack. They got started around the great Stanley Cup void that is Vancouver.

My wife is trying to convince me to put Glass Tiger on here, but this is a list of Rock Bands, not cheesy poppy whiny, girly bands. Bryan Adams isn’t going to make the list either. Ok, ok, ok. Here is some Bryan Adams, but I offer it under duress. He did a good song or two early on in his career. BTW he was born in Kingston but grew up in North Van.

Kim Mitchell. I almost forgot about this great rocker from Sarnia!

Tom Cochrane and Red Rider! Tom comes to us from home of eternal hockey frustration! Toronto, Ontario!

Rush. They really aren’t known as an 80’s band but they had some good songs in the era of cheese! These guys are so good live!
